Our project in collaboration with KaskoSan is well under way. A month into workshops and rehearsals, the Romani groups have gathered in Bolton and Bradford to produce the show, ‘A Flag Large Enough’, for the sharing at Theatre in the Mill in Bradford on Thur 16 May.
Roma families from Bolton, Oldham, Preston and Bradford, who have never met before, have come together for dance, music, and food, sharing the joy and excitement for traditional Romani dances, performing for each other, whilst rehearsing for the show.
KaskoSan has been working with Roma people with heritage in Central and Eastern Europe since 2009. As a registered charity founded and run by East European Roma, KaskoSan is supporting more than a thousand UK Romani families in the north of England and reaching with 10+ million video views online. By doing this work, KaskoSan has created safe spaces to celebrate Romani culture and nurture the global Romani identity.
