Roma families with acting, singing and dancing talent from four northern towns attended the first performing arts workshop in Bradford which took place on 24th of March 2024.

KaskoSan Roma Charity and The Javaad Alipoor Company welcomed Romani music, dance and drama talent at the first ‘A Flag Large Enough’ gathering in Bradford. KaskoSan charity has been nurturing Romanipe, the unscripted and invisible culture of Romani people, through films, events, performing arts shows, research, articles and publications since 2014. KaskoSan, that supports more than a thousand Roma families in the north and achieved more than 10 million video views, is giving space for Roma talent to receive coaching in performing arts, but participants also get help with researching stories, designing and building the storyline. The 22 performers from KaskoSan’s former shows and selected at an audition held on 25th February 2024 at the Bolton Socialist Club were briefed about the project, but they also showcased their talent in anticipation of the performance and started the rehearsals in Bradford on 24th of March 2024.

Juice from KaskoSan and Abir from The Javaad Alipoor Company introduced participants to the project schedule, goals, venues and the actual performance. Romani families also discussed plans for the Roma day celebrations in Bolton that is held on April 8 every year. New content about the Roma Day celebration event held at the Socialist Club in Bolton is coming soon. Until then, check KaskoSan’s Instagram videos and images below from the event on 24th of March 2024 in Bradford.
