200 Social Care and Early Help professionals at Romani Language Workshop for Rotherham Council’s Children and Young People’s Services (CYPS)

With KaskoSan we have been invited by Dr Dan Allen, Principal Lecturer in social work at Liverpool Hope University to co-facilitate two online workshops entitled ‘Engaging our communities’ on 1st of December 2022.

Dr Allen believes that “Although Romani language workshops run by KaskoSan emphasise a Roma family rights perspective, the implications for resilience, trauma informed practice and Early Help will be transferable to all families living in Rotherham under the pressure of this economic crisis”.

It was brilliant! Parruke tute 🙏❤️

Juice Vamosi, Romani language consultant for more than three decades said: “Delivering a training for 200 social care and early help professionals makes me extremely content. The goal is to help attendees see through the centuries of misinformation that carries on spreading about Romani speakers and their descendants and give them a clear picture of who we are. Due to centuries of discrimination, oppression and racism Romani speakers have been facing, Roma families are extremely scared of authorities. The workshops, however, can help professionals build trusted relationships with families where Romani speakers will feel respected and honoured.”
